The village of Wanderhold has been under the protection of Cianna, an ancient forest spirit they’ve worshipped as their god for as long as the village has existed. In exchange for either five percent of its annual harvest or a human sacrifice—the town can decide which they’d prefer—Cianna keeps their land fertile and their village safe from monsters for another year.

No one living remembers what Cianna looks like and there are those in the village who oppose this arrangement. They don’t believe there are monsters lurking in the surrounding forest. None have ever been spotted in their lifetimes. And they know how to keep their own fields fertile.

When entire fields are wiped out by blight late in the growing season, livestock is brutally slaughtered by unnatural beasts and villagers start disappearing at night, the voices of those who wish to stop tithing their yield to the creature grow louder. It’s up to the hunters to figure out what is happening and put a stop to it before the town has nothing to eat for the winter.

The Corrupted Harvest is a Monster of the Week Mystery for a higher level party.
