Despite 200 years of aelfir occupation, The Garden is drow territory. Sure, the aelfir own the heavily guarded terrace farms hanging off the outside of the Spire, but the majority of food production is done in the dark by low society drow. Ministry influence is strong. Superstition is stronger.

Farmers whisper of The Hunger, fearing it’ll take them if they fail to properly care for their crops. Elders speak of entire farms vanishing overnight, some in warning and others with reverence. Cults sprout up like mushrooms, promising protection and prosperity for any who join them. Druidic enclaves stretch their roots into almost every community in the district, operating in the shadows to carry out what they believe are the Spire’s wishes.

Every ten years, the Teeth-Through-Silk family sacrifices one of their own in an elaborate ritual to ensure their fields remain bountiful and the Hunger avoids their farm. Neighbours suspect they’ve been throwing drow farmhands dressed as aelfir into the pit the last few rituals. The next ritual is scheduled soon and Caydac Qa, a Ministry agent with important intel has vanished near the property.

Dragged beneath is a campaign frame that starts in the Garden District in Spire and drags the players into a conspiracy that leads them directly to the Heart. It uses and expands upon content from Spire: The City Must Fall, Strata: A Spire Sourcebook, and Heart: The City Beneath by Rowan Rook and Decard.
